Time To Really Heal The World!

I have read in the news on-line this morning that tropical storm Nock-Ten has taken the souls of some fifty people in the islands of Philippines. The storm has brought inland too much rain that has caused massive flooding into the island of Luzon. At the same time in South Korea massive landslides as a result of too much rain have also claimed more than seventy lives. This heavy rain was recorded as the longest in the history of South Korea. Both the incidents have seen scores injured and hospitalised. At the time of writing Tropical Storm Dom is brewing over the south Gulf of Mexico, with me staring on my monitor in a state of disbelief! Staring on another disaster-to-happen saddens me, with already two in Asia.

I begin to realise that Global Warming is for real! Looks like it. We have never experience such fury lashing on our land, nothing like anything before. Massive flooding in China two months ago, Tornadoes that rip houses apart in the US and the worst flood in the history in Pakistan have left me asking what we can do. Is there a need for super-immediate steps to be taken? If we don’t what else can happen? The floods, storm and landslides were just few physical signs of destruction but will they be the last? What about diseases, of which we began to learn terms like SARS, H1N1, and virus such as e-coli.

Of course there are too, problem very clearly created by human. The greed for economic prosperity, land grabbing or occupation, endless feud between both sides of Korea and the persistent decades old political existence of some so-called democratic leaders. Their greed and those of their kin have created hardship economically from high inflation to embezzlement of public funds. In return millions suffers from health, poverty as well as discrimination. Their rights were abused, their voices clamped and their movement restrained such as those seen from Mandela and Suu Kyi. Political prisoners, fighting for good cause disappeared or caged for good.

Where is love, the one we used to know? Can we still find them in the wide social well-being of the people? I can only find them if I search hard enough. I can find them if I really try hard. And I can only find them if everyone is finding the same thing! The late Michael Jackson’s song on healing the world is perhaps something that we must remember so that we can also be reminded of the need to try harder, not by using force, brutality, caging, bombing as well as economic murder that we sees every day. I share the song with you, Heal the World.

There’s A Place In Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could Be Much Brighter Than Tomorrow

Michael grew up having the most love from Katherine, his mom who loves all his siblings too. A strict Jehovah’s Witness devotee she has brought manners and close-knit among the family members. Michael was very close to her mom whom had painted pictures of love as the siblings grew (with dad’s rationality in between, especially Joseph’s extra marital affairs that Michael never forgave). Dad Joseph apparently loves them too, in a different way.

And If You Really Try
You’ll Find There’s No Need To Cry
In This Place You’ll Feel
There’s No Hurt Or Sorrow

Michael knew all along that he has to try very hard to create for himself a better place for himself as it wasn’t easy for him dealing with Joseph and later with his Jackson’s 5 siblings from their Motown beginning and his superstar status. It wasn’t easy being hunt by fans and trailed by his childhood abuse by his dad.

There Are Ways To Get There
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place…

In “MJ: the Magic & the Madness” by J.Randy (written prior to the legend’s death), Michael is said to be a very caring person having to care for himself, his records, his family (including his dad, bailing him out of his troubles in few occasions), his associates and his fans, especially the little ones that couldn’t afford his concerts or those unfortunate ones. He knew how to radiate love to others, often seen as his attempt to rectify what has been robbing from him, especially from his dad. Michael, when in trouble will often gone missing leaving his associates and family members looking for him everywhere. As he later told, he needs to create space for himself. Somehow Michael knew space has been important to him.

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

Beautiful chorus to this song, “Heal the World” Michael’s final calling for a more peaceful world, where he believed that everyone is capable by trying a little harder. To me it means more respect and humble when we are dealing with conflicts, be it small or big, significant or isn’t and no matter how difficult the situation is. I believe that the human race can put aside differences, egos and even pride dealing with each other. Prejudice must be removed before we act, otherwise there are thousands or even millions will be victims of circumstances. To do that we just need to try a little harder.

If You Want To Know Why
There’s A Love That Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For Joyful Giving

Compassion and love was always with Michael and was evident from all his giving in his life. He found joy in giving. Personally I believed in this because I usually find myself happier having to help or giving someone something. You just have to try it. Try it and you can create a better world. Michael called it joyful giving.

If We Try We Shall See
In This Bliss
We Cannot Feel Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And Start Living

Then It Feels That Always
Love’s Enough For Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World…

There you go what I meant by the feel of giving, particularly giving love to those who deserves or in need of them. There are many out day. Perhaps what we need to start doing is to stop once a while and ask ourselves have we given some love lately? If none, start planning for one, send flowers, send necessities to children’s home or elderly homes etc. Or even visit your family, they didn’t tell you but they do need you once a while. Go do it!

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

Yes, why do we keep strangling life? Why do we chop down those precious trees, why do change how a mountain looks like, why do we alter the direction of the river and why do we shoot and bomb unsuspecting innocent victims, crucifying souls? Apart from the deep meaning of the lyrics I am so amazed by the choice of words that Michael had used, probably from his upbringing on Jehovah’s Witness. (In his mid-career Michael has chosen to leave this belief in the process of making the Thriller. It wasn’t easy for Michael but it was the best for him then)

And The Dream We Were Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep Strangling Life
Wound This Earth
Crucify Its Soul
Though It’s Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God’s Glow

Yes! This was the part that sends out the strong message. I love this part! The tempo was just right and Michael did that just so well and so motivating!

We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart

I Feel You Are All My Brothers
Create A World With No Fear
Together We’ll Cry Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords Into Plowshares

Will we ever turn the swords into plowshares? Are we ready to put aside our show of supremacy, our holding of power and our belief in oppression to make this world a better place? Were the stakes too high for us to put away for a while our dignity, our ego and our inherent power? Are we ready to take the first step, if not the final step? Is there really no hope apart from war, mass killings, destruction or even firing weapons?

We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place…

I think the message is this simple. Are we ready to care for the living?

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me…………..(hoping that the chorus will never ends)
